City of San Leandro <br />Sewer System Management Plan <br />Volume I <br /> <br />Page | 26 <br /> <br /> <br />Goals <br />The City’s goals with respect to responding to SSOs are: <br /> Work safely; <br /> Respond quickly to minimize the volume of the SSO; <br /> Eliminate the cause of the SSO; <br /> Prevent sewage system overflows or leaks from entering the storm drain system or <br />receiving waters to the maximum extent practicable; <br /> Contain the spilled wastewater to the extent feasible; <br /> Minimize public contact with the spilled wastewater; <br /> Mitigate the impact of the SSO; <br /> Meet the regulatory reporting requirements; <br /> Evaluate the causes of failure related to certain SSOs; and <br /> Revise response procedures resulting from the debrief and failure analysis of certain <br />SSOs. <br />The City’s complete OERP document (Appendix A) is available to view on the City website. <br /> <br /> <br />113
