Section 5.0 Holidays <br /> <br />Full-time regular employees shall be entitled to the following holidays: <br /> January 1 (New Year's Day) <br /> Third Monday in January (Martin Luther King's Birthday) <br /> Second Monday in February (Lincoln's Birthday) <br /> Third Monday in February (Washington's Birthday) <br /> March 31 (Cesar Chavez Day) <br /> Last Monday in May (Memorial Day) <br /> June 19 (Juneteenth) <br /> July 4 (Independence Day) <br /> First Monday in September (Labor Day) <br /> November 11 (Veterans' Day) <br /> Thanksgiving Day <br /> Day after Thanksgiving <br /> One-half (½) day on the day before Christmas <br /> One-half (½) day on the day before New Year's Day <br /> Christmas <br /> <br />Holidays will be credited at eight (8) hours for one (1) holiday, which equates to 112 <br />hours per year. When a day herein listed falls on an employee's regular day off, the <br />employee shall be entitled to a day off in lieu thereof within the calendar year. The day <br />selected shall be subject to approval of the Department Head. <br /> <br />Management employees who work a designated alternative work schedule during a <br />week that contains a holiday may work the hours necessary to account for the hour(s) <br />in excess of eight (8) that the employee would have worked on the holiday in lieu of <br />taking the time as vacation or VTO. The hour(s) worked shall be scheduled at a time <br />mutually convenient to the employee and the Department Head. <br /> <br />Each employee represented by the organization shall also be entitled to one floating <br />holiday, which shall be scheduled at time mutually convenient to the employee and <br />the Department Head. The floating holidays must be taken during each calendar year <br />and may not be carried over to another calendar year or converted into pay. Such <br />holidays shall be granted to employees hired on or before September 1 of each <br />calendar year. <br /> <br />The above provisions will be implemented as follows: <br /> <br />• The new City contribution amounts toward health will be retroactively effective <br />January 1, 2022. Employees will receive a credited adjustment. <br /> <br />• The LTD benefit percentage will take effect May 1, 2022 upon provider <br />implementation. <br />
