Staff is recommending that Council
appoint Mike Boyle as a new committee member, representing MacArthur Boulevard
Property Owners.
BACKGROUND
The RAC for the West San Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard Redevelopment Project Area
is an elected advisory committee comprised of business and property owners and adjacent
residents. This committee meets monthly and advises the San Leandro Redevelopment
Agency/City Council concerning policy matters relating to establishing and
implementing redevelopment in this project area.
Representatives are divided between the two separate portions of the project area based
on the size of the area. The larger West San Leandro portion of the project area has four
(4) business owners/operators, four (4) property owners, and two (2) residents. The
MacArthur Boulevard portion of the project area has two (2) business owners, two (2)
property owners, and one (1) resident representative. Each of these members was elected
for a three-year term.
On December 10, 2001 the RAC held elections for all fifteen seats on the committee.
However, only fourteen members were elected due to a lack of nominees for the
MacArthur Boulevard property owner category. This vacancy was announced to the
newly reconstituted RAC at the committee's first meeting in January, 2002. The RAC
asked staff to contact the following MacArthur Boulevard property owners to determine
their interests in serving on the RAC: Mr. Mike Boyle, owner of property at 1057
1 `71
