East 14`h Street South Area December 17, 2001 <br />Interim Urgency Ordinance and Development Strategy Page 7 of 7 <br />CONCLUSION <br />Authorization of the Development Strategy and Interim Ordinance for the East 14th Street <br />South Area will ensure that the City can establish a detailed plan for implementing its <br />economic development goals for East 14th Street, while during the plan preparation <br />period allow for greater review to development proposals that have the potential to <br />impede accomplishment of the objectives of the draft General Plan and the Joint Project <br />Area Redevelopment Plan. It is recommended that the Council authorize City staff to <br />prepare this Development Strategy with the necessary allocation of funds. <br />Pursuant to the City's Municipal Code and Section 65858 of the California Government <br />Code, staff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached interim urgency zoning <br />ordinance providing for discretionary review of certain projects in the East 14th Street <br />South Area for a period of 45 days, to be effective immediately. <br />IUUSB:nh <br />G:\DS\Staff Reports 2001\City Council\E14th St CC STAFF REPORT 121701.doe <br />7 <br />
