The following is presented as a broad introduction to the key issues that <br />were resolved during the months of public input and review, and staff hopes the work session <br />format will allow for the flexibility to focus on those topics which are of special concern to Council <br />Members. <br />A complete copy of the revised Draft to be reviewed at the July 2 public hearing, with an <br />accompanying presentation, will be available at the June 11 work session. <br />No action is required at this time. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Since June 2000, staff has been working on possible Zoning Code amendments affecting a wide <br />range of topics that have been of concern to residents, businesses and the City Council. On <br />February 13, 2001, the City Council held a work session on the proposed Code Amendments. <br />Subsequent to the Council's work session, the Board of Zoning Adjustments and the Planning <br />Commission have held several work sessions and public hearings to review the preliminary drafts. <br />The Board of Zoning Adjustments initiated the public hearing review process, and made the <br />recommendation to the Planning Commission on February 15. In addition, staff conducted two <br />series of public outreach meetings for industrial business and property owners, three in November <br />2000 to review the preliminary drafts, and another two in April/May 2001, at which time specific <br />recommendations were made by industrial businesses and property owners. Two outreach meetings <br />where also held with the West San Leandro Redevelopment Advisory Committee.
