CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: July 2, 2001 <br />TO: John Jermanis, City Manager <br />FROM: Justinian Caire, Human Resources Dire. <br />Approved and forwarded <br />to the City Council <br />Peso <br />J, , aool-1 <br />SUBJECT: Ratification of the creation of the new job classifications of Information <br />Services Administrator, Grants Administrator, Deputy City Clerk, Senior <br />Development Project Specialist, Housing Specialist, Equipment Services <br />Aide, Shipping and Receiving Clerk; the salary schedule adjustments of the <br />existing classifications of Associate Engineer, Information Services <br />Manager, City Engineer, Senior Personnel Analyst, Recreation Leader <br />Aide, Locker Attendant, Instructor Aide, Office Assistant I, Maintenance <br />Assistant I, and Community Crossing Guard; the deletion of the existing <br />classifications of Planning Manager, Deputy City Manager, Economic <br />Development Specialist, Redevelopment Administrator, Senior Computer <br />Operator, Computer Operator, Senior Sanitation Supervisor, Sanitation <br />Operations Supervisor, Operations Superintendent, Refuse Collector I, and <br />Refuse Collector II; and title, classification and/or salary schedule changes <br />for the Business Development Manager, Environmental Services Manager, <br />Shoreline Operations Manager, Chief Building Official, Housing - <br />Community Development Block Grant Coordinator, and the Community <br />Development Director classifications. <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />It is recommended that the City Council approve a resolution ratifying the creation, <br />deletion and salary schedule adjustments for the above -listed classifications and adopt a <br />revised Pay Plan to reflect the changes. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Pursuant to the 2001-2002 budget process, several new classifications were approved in <br />order to more effectively meet the needs of the City of San Leandro: Information Services <br />Administrator, Grants Administrator, Deputy City Clerk, Senior Development Project <br />Specialist, Housing Specialist, Equipment Services Aide, Shipping and Receiving Clerk. <br />During the same process, two positions (Economic Development Specialist, <br />Redevelopment Administrator) were eliminated pursuant to a reorganization of functions <br />within the Business Development Division. In revising the Pay Plan, it was determined by <br />management that several other classifications which are not included in the 2001-02 <br />Staff Council Meeting07/16/01 1 0- l9 <br />
