1844 Bancroft Avenue Appeal
PLN2001-00041
September 17, 2001
The single-family home located to the rear of the office building would be accessed via
a separate driveway and would be located on it's own parcel — configured as a flag lot.
In the interim, the appellant purchased the Christopher House, formally located at 886
Marina Boulevard, and had the house moved to this location. The appellant felt that
moving the home to this site and demolishing the existing home presented an
opportunity for improving the layout of the site plan and would provide a home that
was in better shape than the one existing on -site. Because the garage is detached, it
can be moved to be utilized by the new home.
Current City Council Policy
Not applicable
Previous City Council Action
Not applicable
City Council Committee Review and Action
Not applicable
Applicable General Plan Policy
Not applicable
Permits and/or Variances Granted
Staff notes that should the appeal be denied, the appellant does have an approved Planned
Development, which can be implemented with submittal of plans to the Building and
Safety Services Division for building plan check, and upon issuance of a building permit.
Staff believes, however, that the modified proposal will be a better project.
Environmental Review
This matter is categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act
(CEQA) per CEQA Guidelines, Article 19, Section 15301.
Code Compliance Review
Not applicable
1(0I
