S
West San Leandro - 3 - January 13, 1998
staffed by the Development Services Department, with the active participation of the Engineering Division.
The final product would be a set of recommendations to City Council regarding priority City and
neighborhood initiatives for the district. We anticipate that the whole process would take approximately one
year.
A West San Leandro Advisory Committee would need to include representatives from a wide variety of
organizations. These would include homeowners and tenants, industrial and commercial property owners
and businesses, neighborhood shopping center owners and tenants, parent and school representatives, and the
Planning Commissioner for the district. It is recommended that the Council appoint an ad -hoc sub-
committee of three Council members to develop a recommended list of committee members.
CONCLUSION
The tour of District 6 pointed out several issues that merit City attention. In addition, there is a significant
amount of development anticipated in the district as the commercial and industrial areas continue to evolve.
Therefore, staff recommends the formation of a West San Leandro Advisory Committee to provide citizen
input regarding City activities and programs for the area.
eALESUMWELEAND \MAN98.Doc
143
