A copy of the December 31, 1997, Planning Commission Staff Report and minutes of the <br />Planning Commission public hearing of January 8, 1998, are attached for your review. <br />Planning Commission Vote. <br />MSC Reed/Nlahoney, 6 ayes, 1 absent (Burpee) <br />The Planning Commission and Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action: <br />1. Approve the proposed Reclassification (A-97-11) by adopting the attached ordinance; and <br />2. Approve the proposed Planned Development (PD-97-9), subject to the attached Conditions of <br />Approval, by motion. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The subject property is a 30,340 square foot site at the northeast comer of Merced Street and <br />Marina Boulevard, known as Crazy Charlie's self -serve station. In 1968, the site was developed <br />with the existing service station, a small retail area, office area, restrooms and three pumping <br />islands. The property is operated as a self-service station and auto repair has been discontinued. <br />The property owner recently acquired the site and would like to remodel the facility (i.e., new <br />landscaping, convenience store, drive-thm coffee/espresso lane, fuel dispensers, canopies and sign <br />program) to enhance the property's appearance and function.
