Educational Incentive: Members not eligible for the current PDIP (Police <br />Department Incentive Plan) and who have completed five years of employment with the <br />San Leandro Police Department will be eligible to receive the following educational <br />incentives: <br />Educational Track <br />Associates Degree - 3% <br />Bachelor's Degree - 5% <br />Post Certificate Track <br />Post Intermediate - 3% <br />Post Advanced - 5% <br />The above amounts are not cumulative. Members in the current PDIP shall continue to <br />participate in that program, or switch to the new program at the member's option; <br />amounts paid to members in the PDIP program will switch from flat dollar amounts to <br />percentages. <br />4. Uniform Allowance - Effective March 1999, the uniform allowance will increase <br />by fifty dollars ($50.00) to $800.00 per year. <br />5. Specialty Pay - Adds a bilingual pay differential to the specialty pay categories; <br />changes the specialty pay rates from 5% to $20.00 per day when officers and sergeants <br />are so assigned in the various specialty pay categories (such as Field Training Officer). <br />6. Retirement Medical Insurance - For those employees who retire after 3/1/98, the <br />City will implement a "Medicare Risk" insurance plan (open only to those officers who <br />are eligible for Medicare) and shall contribute up to $40.00 per month toward the cost of <br />the Medicare Risk premium. Currently, "Medicare Risk" premiums range between $7.00 <br />- $20.00 per month per retiree. For those 13 current employees who do not have <br />Medicare coverage as they where hired prior to the Department's participation in the <br />Federal Medicare program, the City shall continue to provide medical insurance until age <br />70 at half the pre -age 65 premium contribution rates. <br />7. Overtime/Callout - Officers called out for court appearances on a work day will <br />receive a minimum three hours of overtime pay; for officers called out for court <br />appearance on an off -day will receive a minimum of five hours of pay. <br />8. Sick Leave - Increases the cap on sick leave accumulation from 215 to 225 days. <br />82 <br />
