STANDARDS FOR DIRECTIONAL SIGNS <br />Directional signs shall be permitted within the public right-of-way in accordance <br />with the following standards: <br />• Directional signs shall be permitted for business, commercial and retail districts, <br />recreational facilities, shopping centers and malls, religious institutions, government <br />facilities and similar destinations that have a local or regional draw. <br />• The Development Services Department shall make a finding for each application that <br />the directional sign will benefit the public good. <br />• Whenever possible, an existing directional sign pole, street name sign post, signal <br />pole or light pole shall be used. <br />• An encroachment permit shall be required. <br />• The applicant shall submit a written request for the sign stating the desired location(s) <br />and the text to appear on the sign. The request shall be subject to the approval of the <br />Development Services and Engineering and Transpiration Departments. <br />• The number of signs permitted shall be limited to the minimum number needed for <br />clear directions to the site as determined by the Development Services and <br />Engineering and Transportation Departments. The total number of signs shall not <br />exceed three for any one site. <br />• The signs shall be installed by the City and the applicant shall deposit funds to cover <br />all costs incurred by the City in the approval and installation of the sign. <br />• The size of the sign shall be 24 by 36 inches excluding the directional arrow. <br />• The sign shall conform to the design criteria attached. <br />• Should the applicant cease its operation at a particular location, the applicant shall <br />notify the City within 15 days after said cessation and the City will remove the <br />existing directional signs with the cost paid by the applicant. <br />• Any sign damaged or lost by accident or malicious conduct will be replaced by the <br />City, with the cost paid by the applicant. <br />III <br />
