The 30-inch header will be separated from the 24-inch
header and connected to the 24-inch export pipeline. The two 1,000 gpm (1.4-4 rngd) east
side pumps will be replaced with 2,000 gpm (2.9 mgd) 20 horsepower pumps. The four east
side pumps will have a capacity of approximately 10 mgd and will pump excess flow to
storage via Distribution Box No. 3. The export_ pump and pipeline system will have a surge
control system and metering station.
EQUALIZATION STORAGE
Available on -site storage includes the following process units:
Process Unit
Primary Settling Tanks
Primary Clarifier No. 1
Primary Clarifier No. 2
Aeration Tanks
Secondary Clarifier No. 3
Secondary Clarifier No. 4
Chlorine Contact Tank
TOTAL
Volume, Gallons
315,500
249,000
305,000
1,319,400
605,500
476,900
195,000
3,466,300
These process units are all connected by piping and pumping systems and can be filled
through Distribution Box No. 3. The system
should be designed to utilize the entire 3,466,300 gallons of available storage.
FORCEMAIN ROUTE
The forcemain route is approximately 14,000 feet in length, as shown on Figure 1. The
forcemain will be 24-inch and leave the plant eastward along an existing alley where an
easement may be required. The forcemain will continue north along Doolittle Drive to Airport
Way, then northeasterly along Hegenberger to Oakport Street. The forcemain will be jacked
under Highway 880 and connect to the existing EBMUD 51-inch South Interceptor near
Coliseum Way. The forcemain will be constructed of mortar -lined, tape -wrapped, steel pipe
with cathodic protection. The proposed route is along existing streets which are adequate in
width to accommodate pipeline construction.
