Action 1.16: Continue Broker Development Efforts
Economic development staff currently maintain contact with numerous real estate brokers
active in the San Leandro area in order to exchange information on available sites and
prospective tenants. This program should be expanded to include conducting outreach to
real estate brokers and site locators that may not focus on San Leandro in particular. but
have contact with clients seeking locations in the greater East Bay area.
One opportunity to promote San Leandro would be to contact regional commercial real
estate brokerages and offer to make presentations on San Leandro at regular broker
meetings. Another broker development opportunity is to lead tours of the City,s
commercial and industrial districts in conjunction with distributing updated copies of the
City's development opportunities database (Action 2.7).
Finally. the City may wish to consider providing broker incentives to encourage brokers to
seek out and identify users for Cityownedproperties that meet particular land use
objectives. such as bringing entertainment uses to the downtown area.
Roles and Responsibilities.
