Harman, Human Resources Director j^^ Subject: Resolution to Amend the Pay Plan to Create the Classification of Wastewater Plant Operations Supervisor; Delete the Classifications of Assistant Plant Superintendent and Plant Maintenance Supervisor; Change the Job Title of Plant Superintendent to Wastewater Pollution Control Manager SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council approve a resolution amending the Pay Plan to create the classification of Wastewater Plant Operations Supervisor, at a salary range of $4,508 - 4,733 - 4,970 - 5,219 - 5,480; deleting the classifications of Assistant Plant Superintendent and Plant Maintenance Supervisor; and changing the job title of Plant Superintendent to Wastewater Pollution Control Manager. BACKGROUND The operating units at the City's Wastewater Treatment Facility include plant operations, plant maintenance, environmental compliance programs, and the laboratory section. Each operational unit is headed by a supervisor or coordinator, and reports to the Plant Superintendent. As part of an on -going process to evaluate the organizational structure and operating efficiency of the Wastewater Treatment Facility, the Public Works Services Director is recommending creation of a new job classification of Wastewater Plant Operations Supervisor. This non- management classification would be responsible for supervising both the plant operations and plant maintenance units. The position replaces two vacant positions - Assistant Plant Superintendent and the Plant Maintenance Supervisor. It is also recommended that the City Council approve the ordinance amending the Pay Plan to change the job title of the Plant Superintendent to Wastewater Pollution Control Manager. No change in salary is recommended. Ti
