SAN LEANDRO DOWNTOWN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION
c/o Kenneth Pon, President
114 Parrott St
San Leandro CA 94577
October 2, 1996
City Council
City of San Leandro
835 E 14th St
San Leandro CA 94577
Dear City Council Members:
510-895-2011
On behalf of the San Leandro Downtown Business Association, I am requesting that you bring the
ice skating rink funding up for reconsideration at the October 7 City Council meeting. Due to a
misunderstanding on our part that the Council meeting where you denied the funding was for the purpose
of determining WHETHER TO FUND the ice skating rink and not, as we thought, HOW TO IMPLEMENT,
no representation from the Association was present to provide support in favor of funding. We would like
an opportunity to provide that support now.
Recognizing how much the ice skating rink contributed to creating a positive outlet for children
and an opportunity to attract new business for the downtown merchants, we have committed to champion
an effort with Mayor Ellen Corbett to raise $60,000 in pledges by the end of this month to resurrect the ice
skating rink.
As a supporter of our business community, I'm sure that you share my interest in ensuring that
children are not left idle during the holiday season and that every effort is made to support businesses in
downtown San Leandro.
Thank you for your consideration and please do not hesitate to call my office at 895-2011 if you
have any questions.
Sincerely,
L'
Kenneth Pon, President
44-d
