Timeline for Peer Review of Schematic Design <br />a. Issue RFP for peer review <br />November 20, 1996 <br />b. Responses to RFP due <br />December 6, 1996 <br />c. Architect selected <br />December 13, 1996 <br />d. Peer Review completed <br />January 31, 1997 <br />At the same time that the peer review is occurring, the City will issue a Request For Qualifications <br />for construction/project management professionals. The responses to the RFQ will be evaluated and <br />a contract will be negotiated with the chosen professional. <br />Timeline for Construction Management RFQ: <br />a. Issue RFQ for Construction/Project December 13, 1996 <br />Management <br />b. Responses to RFQ due January 10, 1997 <br />c. Managers selected January 24, 1997 <br />CONCLUSION <br />I'he Library Retrofit/Renovation/Expansion Project is a large project which will require the combined <br />efforts of both City Staff and outside professionals to accomplish. The competitive process outlined <br />above will ensure that the City is able to use the services of the professionals best qualified for the <br />job. <br />The branch library study will be launched at the completion of this process. It will run concurrently <br />with the continuation of the main library design to allow for maximum public input and to carefully <br />coordinate our City-wide library system. A timetable for any possible changes in branch libraries will <br />be developed following completion of the study. <br />We believe that this coordinated approach will provide San Leandro residents with the most cost- <br />effective plan to prepare its libraries for the space and technological needs of the 21st Century. <br />F:\30HNE\L1B-MAIN.S7Y <br />3 - 19 <br />
