EXHIBIT A-2
While short-term impacts to the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse would be significant.
mitigation measures are available to minimize this potential impact (e.g., limiting construction
equipment access to sensitise areas and timing construction to avoid the periods of highest
mouse activity). In addition, the short-term impacts would be minimized by the long-term
habitat rains due to island construction and improved salt marsh vegetation coverage and vigor
(see Checklist items II-21a&b). Consequently, the li. S. Fish and Wildlife Service has
determined that the project would not jeopardize the continued existence and viability of salt
marsh harvest mouse populations in the Roberts Landing area (.Appendix E).
The proposed project would not result in individually limited but cumulatively considerable
impacts. Nor would the project have environmental effects which will cause substantial ad\erse
effects on human beings. Converselv, increased habitat value would increase the quality of
passive recreational activities (see Checklist items II-21c&D).
NOTES
Alvarez. Edward, General Counsel.
