IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 97-19 (2822 ) <br />A RESOLUTION CALLING A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE <br />HELD ON JUNE 3, 1997, FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS A MEASURE REGARDING <br />EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS) TAX; DIRECTING THAT <br />NOTICE OF SAID ELECTION BE GIVEN; REQUESTING THAT THE <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS PERMIT <br />CONSOLIDATION OF SAID MUNICIPAL ELECTION WITH THE <br />COUNTY'S SPECIAL ELECTION; ESTABLISHING RULES RELATING TO <br />BALLOT ARGUMENTS; AND AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN <br />IMPARTIAL ANALYSIS <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Leandro has determined that <br />a special election must be called to submit to the electors a question regarding an <br />Emergency Medical Services (EMS) tax. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />San Leandro as follows: <br />Section 1. Pursuant to the Charter of the City of San Leandro, the Elections <br />Code and Government Code of the State of California, a Special Municipal Election <br />is hereby called and ordered to be held in the City of San Leandro on June 3, 1997, <br />for the purpose of submitting to qualified electors of the City of San Leandro a ballot <br />measure regarding whether or not a special tax be imposed to continue funding <br />emergency medical services, at a maximum rate of Nine Dollars and Ninety Cents <br />($9.90) per benefit unit, replacing an existing charge of Nine Dollars and Ninety <br />Cents ($9.90) per benefit unit, with occupied property assigned benefit units based <br />upon a County of Alameda Emergency Medical Services District survey of 1983. The <br />tax per benefit unit is adjustable annually based upon the Consumer Price Index, <br />with total adjustments not to exceed Five Dollars and Ten Cents ($5.10). <br />
