• Support ISTEA's basic program structure, such as the Surface Transportation <br />Program, the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program, the <br />Transportation Enhancements Program, and oppose block grants. <br />• Maximize federal investment by dedicating transportation taxes for transportation <br />purposes and encouraging greater private sector investment. <br />• Fully fund implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act with additional <br />federal resources that protect existing transportation funds, including transit capital <br />and operating funds. <br />• Sustain federal funding for transit operations. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the <br />Metropolitan Transportation Commission, representatives in Congress, and the United <br />States Secretary of Transportation. <br />Introduced by Council Member Young and passed and adopted this <br />2nd day of June 1997. <br />Members of the Council: <br />AYES: Council Members Galvan, Glaze, Loeffler, Polvorosa, Young; <br />Mayor Corbett (6) <br />NOES: None (0) <br />ABSENT: Council Member Lothrop (1) <br />ATTEST: <br />ayle P ersen, City Clerk <br />FARESMISTEA97 <br />
