EXHIBIT B <br />Design Consultant Scope of Work <br />Airport Area Gateway Design Project <br />1. Gather Background Information <br />• Kick -Off Meeting with Technical Advisory Committee <br />• Gather Information about all public projects in Airport Gateway Area - <br />Meetings, Interviews, Review Drawings and Written Materials <br />Airport Roadway Project <br />Hegenberger Gateway Development Plan <br />Doolittle Drive Gateway Project <br />BART/Oakland International Airport Connector <br />Airport Development Program <br />Galbraith Golf Course Redevelopment <br />• Prepare a base map that can be used for illustrative drawings. The project area <br />boundaries are approximately from I-880 to the Airport Terminal, and from the north <br />side of Hegenberger Road to Adams St. in San Leandro. <br />• Identify Opportunities and Constraints on the base map. <br />2. Design Themes <br />• Prepare three design themes for consideration by the Technical Advisory Committee. <br />Describe the theme using design drawings and words. Show the references for how <br />the theme was developed - e.g. East Bay history, natural resources, future plans, East <br />Bay amenities. Show examples of the types of design elements that would be used to <br />create the proposed design theme. A slide show explaining the development of the <br />design themes, and examples of comparable public improvements in other cities is <br />desirable. <br />• Present the design themes at a public meeting at each of the four agencies. <br />• Revise and refine one of the proposed design themes to be the final design theme, <br />based on input received from the Technical Advisory Committee and the public and <br />elected officials from the four agencies. <br />3. Design Elements <br />• Select design elements that can be used in each of the four agencies' roadway projects <br />to create the final design theme. These elements shall include items such as: <br />Landscaping - Street Trees and other planting <br />Lighting <br />Signs <br />Banners <br />Gateway Monument <br />Street Furniture <br />• Information provided for each design element shall be specific as to type, size, color, <br />materials, and other information needed to fully evaluate the proposal. The <br />presentation shall describe how each design element might be used in the four <br />agencies various projects. <br />
