Action Plan - FY1998 <br />City of San Leandro <br />Page 15 <br />Hous inia <br />Overall coordination within the City will occur amongst the City Council (and serving as the <br />Redevelopment Agency), the Development, Community Services and Public Safety <br />Departments; the County; and local serving nonprofit agencies. <br />The City and Redevelopment Agency contract with Alameda County to provide a variety <br />of housing rehabilitation services to the San Leandro community. The City will also work <br />with the County to administer the HOME funds for affordable housing rehabilitation or new <br />construction projects. Fair Housing, tenant/landlord and Rental Assistance Program (RAP) <br />services will be contracted with ECHO Housing Services, Inc. The Redevelopment Agency <br />and CDBG staff will continue to work closely with the City's Affordable Housing Task <br />Force, and local nonprofit shelter agencies to identify affordable housing activities, and <br />transitional housing needs respectively. <br />Public Services/Capital Improvement Projects <br />Public Services will be supported by both the CDBG and the City's Community Assistance <br />Fund (general funds); efforts will continue to include the Human Resources Commission <br />and nonprofit agency directors/members to further improve and evaluate the needs <br />assessment and funding process. <br />CDBG funds are expected to be made available for nonprofit and City -initiated capital <br />improvement projects. Nonprofit improvements will be coordinated with the CDBG staff <br />and the nonprofit agency. City projects will be coordinated within the City's Development <br />Services and Engineering/Transportation Departments, and City Council. <br />Business Revitalization <br />Revitalization efforts will be initiated by the City's Economic Development Coordinator and <br />directed by City Council. Staff works closely with the Chamber of Commerce, Downtown <br />Business Association, the East Bay Small Business Development Center, surrounding <br />communities, and various economic development organizations to best determine the City's <br />future needs. <br />PUBLIC HOUSING IMPROVEMENTS AND RESIDENT INITIATIVES <br />The City of San Leandro does not contain any public housing. <br />
