Action Plan - FY1998 City of San Leandro Page 15 Hous inia Overall coordination within the City will occur amongst the City Council (and serving as the Redevelopment Agency), the Development, Community Services and Public Safety Departments; the County; and local serving nonprofit agencies. The City and Redevelopment Agency contract with Alameda County to provide a variety of housing rehabilitation services to the San Leandro community. The City will also work with the County to administer the HOME funds for affordable housing rehabilitation or new construction projects. Fair Housing, tenant/landlord and Rental Assistance Program (RAP) services will be contracted with ECHO Housing Services, Inc. The Redevelopment Agency and CDBG staff will continue to work closely with the City's Affordable Housing Task Force, and local nonprofit shelter agencies to identify affordable housing activities, and transitional housing needs respectively. Public Services/Capital Improvement Projects Public Services will be supported by both the CDBG and the City's Community Assistance Fund (general funds); efforts will continue to include the Human Resources Commission and nonprofit agency directors/members to further improve and evaluate the needs assessment and funding process. CDBG funds are expected to be made available for nonprofit and City -initiated capital improvement projects. Nonprofit improvements will be coordinated with the CDBG staff and the nonprofit agency. City projects will be coordinated within the City's Development Services and Engineering/Transportation Departments, and City Council. Business Revitalization Revitalization efforts will be initiated by the City's Economic Development Coordinator and directed by City Council. Staff works closely with the Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Business Association, the East Bay Small Business Development Center, surrounding communities, and various economic development organizations to best determine the City's future needs. PUBLIC HOUSING IMPROVEMENTS AND RESIDENT INITIATIVES The City of San Leandro does not contain any public housing.
