Mr. Steve Fitzsimons Page 11 November S, 1996
computer as new systems become available. To completely create a new system, both
Traffic Database and Stored System Configuration files will need to be developed.
Resources: 26 hours will be required to write and debug this program. Input will almost
always be from signal plans rather than electronic files, and this is assumed in this
estimate ($3,120)
Task 3.2: Integrate Traffic Database Stored System Configuration and Svnchro - write a
program to convert Traffic Database and Stored System Configuration data to Synchro
input data.
Resources: 36 hours will be required to write and debug this program ($4,320)
Task 3.3: Signal Timing Plan Conversion to Tvpe 170 Controllers - write a program to
translate Synchro, TRANSYT 7F and PASSER II-90 controller settings to Type 170
controller settings that can be directly input to CT Net. This translation program will
also include an editor that allows the engineer to edit the output prior to downloading the
settings into CT Net.
Resources: 40 hours will be required to write and debug this program ($4,800)
Task 2.4: Signal Timing Plan Conversion to Econolite and Traconex Controllers - write
a program to translate Synchro, TRANSYT 7F and PASSER II-90 controller settings to
Econolite and Traconex TMP 390 controller settings that can be directly input to
Econolite Zone Master/TMS and Traconet. This translation program will also include an
editor that allows the engineer to edit the output prior to downloading the settings into
Econolite Zone Master IVfrMS and Traconet.
Resources: 20 hours will be required to write and debug this program ($2,400)
Task 4 - Training and Installation and Documentation [TOTAL = $12,720]
Task 4.1: Install Software and Configure on Signal Monitor Computers - TJKM will
install TIS on the designated computers at Caltrans, the cities of Oakland, San Leandro
and Hayward, and Alameda County and confirm the software is operational at all
locations.
Resources: 24 hours will be required for this task ($2,880)
Task 4.2: Training - TJKM will conduct training sessions on the use of TIS. There will
be three sessions: 1) a general introductory session to review TIS capabilities, 2) a
separate and detailed session at Caltrans, and 3) a detailed session at one of the cities
attended by Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward and Alameda County to complete the
training in the use of the system.
Resources: 8 hours will be needed for the introductory session (lasting 4 hours), 8 hours
will be for the Caltrans session and 8 hours for the city/county session for a total cost of
$3,840
Task 4.3: Documentation - documentation will be written for TIS providing descriptions
of each program function and how to use it as well as technical documentation and
source code for the program which will become the property of the JPA and Caltrans at
the successful conclusion of the project.
