- 7-
The interior floors are finished with vinyl
asbestos tile on concrete throughout most of
the building. Carpeting on pads has been fur-
nished in the judges' chambers and within the
courtrooms. The bathrooms have a ceramic tile
finish and ceramic tile base; a 4" rubber base
was used around the balance of the floors. The
interior walls have varying finishes. The north
wall is of concrete, smooth finish along the
corridors and also in the aforementioned holding
cell. The outer walls have 5/8" gypsum board on
plywood, the interior framed walls 1/2" gypsum
board over plywood. The interior walls in the
courtrooms are finished with acoustically de-
signed offset panels of stain grade hardwood
veneer plywood. These rooms are 14' in height.
The lobbies have 10' high ceilings, the marshall
and clerks office 9' ceiling, and the balance of
the private offices 8' ceilings. The ceilings
have 1/2" gypsum board in the toilet rooms,
mechanical and janitorial rooms. The finish
is 2' by 4' acoustic tile panels on suspended
grid system in the balance of the rooms with
the exception of the courtrooms. Doors through-
out the building are a combination of hollow
and solid core, paint and stain grades. Some are
of hardwood veneer; special steel security doors
are located on the holding cell and exterior
doors have aluminum frames and casements. The
windows have aluminum frames.
The HVAC system is a multi -zone air-conditioning
system with central chilled water and central
hot water heating in the original portions of
the building. The addition has a roof -top
multiple zone package. The original system has
a water chiller with a 29-ton capacity; there is
a cooling tower, 425,000 BTU per hour capacity;
a condensor, compressor and assorted pumps. A
gas -fired boiler furnishes hot water for the
heating cycle. Most of this equipment is located
in the mechanical equipment room located adjacent
to the second courtroom. The rooftop multi -zone
package unit is a gas -fired, self-contained unit
and serves the courtroom addition and appurtenant
rooms. Hot water is furnished by a domestic gas -
fired, instantaneous water heater.
