and women's bathrooms each containing three fix- tures. A reinforced concrete walled holding cell, 8' by 12' is located adjacent to the court- room and is connected with a stairway and tunnel to the city's public safety building adjoining the subject property. This tunnel on the lower level is described later in this report. There are four partitioned multi -purpose offices in an attached room, located at the northeasterly cor- ner of the building off the lobby. The courtroom addition was constructed with similar materials and design to the original structure and appears now to have the same physical age and certainly the same effective age. The foundations are continuous concrete perimeter walls tied into variable depth concrete footings. The aforementioned tunnel is construc- ted entirely of concrete walls, floor and ceiling and measures 5' wide by 7'6" in height. The basic floor throughout is constructed of a 5" thick reinforced concrete slab tied to the peri- meter walls and is supported on approximately four feet of compact engineered earthfill. There is a floor elevation change in the courtrooms which have a 6" step-up to the jury and judges levels. The building has steel pipe columns over the footings and these support variable sized wide flange steel I -beams. All interior wall framing is of 2" by 4" studding on 16" centers. There is 3-1/2" standard steel diagonal pipe bracing in the building interior, a design for seismic safety. The exterior walls are finished with cement plaster on a wire mesh and building paper over a 1/2" exterior plywood, nailed to the wood stud walls. The roof system has steel wide flange beams supporting 2' by 10' joists, and there is a 5' cantilevered soffit around the perimeter of the building. The roof surface con- sists of colored aggregate on a built-up roof surface. There is 1" ridged insulation over a plywood decking. V
