11 <br />SLPOA MOU January 1, 2023 – June 30, 2028 <br /> <br />Section 13. Holidays <br /> <br />Effective January 1, 2023 and in recognition of the City’s observance of Juneteenth, each <br />employee represented by the Association shall be entitled to an additional floating holiday (8 <br />hours) for a total of two floating holidays (16 hours). Floating holidays shall be scheduled at time <br />mutually convenient to the employee and the Police Chief. The floating holiday must be taken <br />during each calendar year and may not be carried over to another calendar year or converted to <br />pay. <br /> <br />Employees shall receive a 7% holiday pay premium in lieu of holiday overtime pay and accruing <br />holiday time. Holiday-in-lieu pay shall be paid in equal amounts in each pay period. <br /> <br />Employees wishing to take a holiday off must use accrued leaves. Employee requests for time <br />off on a City holiday will be granted for those working assignments other than patrol. Employees <br />assigned to patrol will have time off requests approved subject to existing practice for time off <br />requests. At their discretion, the Police Chief may require that specified holidays must be taken <br />off by all employees working assignments other than patrol, however such directives must apply <br />uniformly to all non-patrol assignments. <br /> <br />Section 14. Annual Vacation Leave <br /> <br />14.1 The purpose of annual vacation leave is to enable each eligible employee to return to work <br />physically and mentally refreshed. In the administration of this section, administrative <br />personnel shall be guided by this stated purpose. Full vacation leave shall be taken at <br />one time. However, the Police Chief, under appropriate circumstances may permit a <br />modification of this requirement. The time at which an employee shall take vacation leave <br />during the calendar year shall be determined with due regard for the needs of the <br />department. The vacation/holiday sign-up will be posted in the authorized work locations <br />of the respective divisions for sworn employees of the Police Department no later than <br />November 1, to be completed by December 1, for the next calendar year. <br /> <br /> Vacation leave may be accumulated to a maximum of two and one half (2.5) years' <br />vacation entitlement and taken in one (1) calendar year. Such approval shall be recorded <br />in the employee's personnel file. An employee who fails to take accrued vacation leave <br />within the time herein prescribed shall cease accruing vacation leave until vacation usage <br />reduces below the prescribed limit. <br /> <br /> An employee who is in unpaid status for 44 or more hours in a pay period shall not accrue <br />vacation leave for that pay period. <br /> <br /> Upon being separated from City service, an eligible employee shall be entitled to <br />compensation for any accrued but unused vacation calculated at the rate of pay at the <br />time of termination. <br /> The following vacation leave provisions do not apply to hourly or part-time employees. <br /> <br /> 14.2 Vacation leave for each full-time employee shall be accrued and credited for the pay <br />period in which it is earned pursuant to the following accrual schedule: <br /> <br />YEARS OF SERVICE DAYS/HRS OF <br />VACATION ACCRUAL <br />
