City of San Leandro Climate Action Plan 2023 Accomplishments <br />The following list highlights a select number of accomplishments that have been <br />achieved over the past year in support of CAP implementation: (July 2021- April 2023): <br />• Planted 396 trees as part of the $1,499,400 CalFire tree planting grant. <br />Established partnerships with regional agencies such as San Leandro and San <br />Lorenzo Unified School Districts, Alameda County, and East Bay Regional Parks <br />District. <br />• Completed the City tree inventory and urban heat assessment in November 2022 <br />as part of the Citywide Tree Master Plan development. <br />• Doubled participation in Alameda County Green Business Program to 44 <br />businesses in the past three years. <br />• Expanded the Resilience Hub Program to include 8 resilience hub sites and 3 <br />resilient neighborhoods across all Council districts that will support residents with <br />resource and service distribution before, during, or after natural hazard events. <br />• Secured $161,000 grant funds from the California Resilience Challenge in <br />February 2023 to develop a Shoreline Sea Level Rise Master Plan. <br />• Transitioned residential and commercial electricity accounts in 2022 to a default <br />Renewable 100 tier with East Bay Community Energy, resulting in 100% <br />renewable energy for the vast majority of customers. <br />• Working with East Bay Community Energy on installing electric vehicle (EV) fast <br />chargers at the Main Library, City Hall, and Senior Community Center. <br />• Established a demonstration native species pollinator garden at Manor Branch <br />Library in March 2022. <br />• Established a Library of Things at the Main Library for patrons to check out small <br />appliances, games, portable air quality monitors, and tools. <br />• Promoting regional resources, rebates, and incentives from East Bay Community <br />Energy, BayREN, Switch is On, StopWaste, Drive Clean Bay Area, and others. <br />• Completed an initial municipal fleet electrification assessment in October 2022 <br />through partnership with East Bay Community Energy. <br />• Working with East Bay Community Energy to install 1,178 kW solar and 618 kW <br />battery storage at 9 municipal facilities. <br />• Partnered with Prologis and East Bay Community Energy to develop a <br />community solar project at 1979 Davis Street to install new 1,300 kilowatt of <br />solar, generating a 20% electricity discount for up to 288 disadvantaged <br />households. <br />• Supported the development of various elements within the Citywide General <br />Plan, including a new Environmental Justice Element, updated Housing Element, <br />and updated Safety Element. The Environmental Justice Element identifies <br />objectives and policies to reduce health risks in disadvantaged communities, <br />promote civic engagement in the public decision -making process, and prioritize <br />improvements and programs that address the needs of disadvantaged
