File Number: 23-493 <br />communities to create enduring solutions for just societies and a healthy, resilient natural world. <br />This grant is administered through Califa, which is a nonprofit library membership consortium of <br />more than 200 libraries in California. Founded in 2004, Califa brokers and facilitates the <br />procurement of library products; works closely with the California State Library in administering a <br />number of statewide projects supported by federal Library Services and Technology Act funds; <br />offers Continuing Education training through the Infopeople project, and manages master <br />contracts and pricing agreements with publishers and vendors. <br />Analysis <br />For FY 2023-2024, the Stay & Play Claim Form (Attachment B) provides $4,500. The award will <br />be in one payment: <br />Initial Payment: <br />·$4,500 upon execution of the letter <br />The Library will submit invoices based on deliverables before the end of the funding period on <br />June 30, 2024. <br />All expenditures are tracked by the Senior Librarian for Youth Services, who reports expenditures <br />to Califa and tracks performance measures due by June 30, 2024. <br />Applicable General Plan Policies <br />·GOAL CSF-3 Sustain and expand a public library system that provides a destination for <br />exploration and discovery, knowledge and information, leisure and cultural enrichment, and <br />life-long learning opportunities for persons of all ages. <br />o Policy CSF-3.4 Libraries as Neighborhood Centers. Promote programs and events <br />that affirm the role of the City’s libraries as community and neighborhood gathering <br />places and that reflect the City’s diverse population. <br />o Policy CSF-3.5 Resources for Self-Improvement. Ensure that San Leandro’s <br />libraries and other community institutions provide a setting for the open exchange of <br />ideas and information and provide an opportunity for residents of all backgrounds <br />to improve their skills and knowledge. <br />·GOAL CSF-5 Provide recreation and human service programs and activities <br />commensurate with identified community needs. <br />o Policy CSF-5.2 Child and Family Services. Support the development of child and <br />family services and programs that encourage safe and healthy environments for <br />children and families. <br />Summary of Public Outreach Efforts <br />Library staff will survey community members during the design phase of the project and use <br />Library and City communication channels to engage and promote the programs to the family, <br />friends, neighbors, and caregivers target audience, as well as, to the general community. <br />Page 2 City of San Leandro Printed on 11/1/2023
