Contractor shall conduct an adequate number of random <br />contamination checks of Single-Family Recyclable Materials Containers to ensure <br />compliance with the contamination monitoring requirements of SB 1383. <br />If Contractor determines that material placed in any Container for Collection is <br />Hazardous Waste, Designated Waste, or other Excluded Waste that may not <br />legally be Disposed of at the Designated Disposal Location or handled at the <br />Processing sites or presents a hazard to Contractor's employees, the Contractor <br />shall have the right to refuse to accept such material, provided that Contractor <br />leaves a Non-Collection Notice in accordance with Section 5.3.B of this <br />Agreement. <br />2. Organic Materials Collection <br />Contractor shall Collect Organic Materials placed in Contractor-provided Carts (or otherwise placed in <br />accordance with this Section) one (1) time per week from Single-Family Customers and Transport all <br />Organic Materials to the Designated Organic Materials Processing Facility for Processing. <br />Containers: Carts <br />Container Sizes: 20-, 32-, 64-, or 96-gallons (or comparable size approved by the City) as selected <br />by the Customer. <br />Service Frequency: One (1) time per week on the same day as Recyclable Materials and Solid Waste <br />Collection service. <br />Service Location: Curbside <br />Acceptable Materials: Organic Materials (including Yard Trimmings, Food Scraps, and Compostable <br />Paper) <br />Prohibited Materials: Recyclable Materials, Solid Waste, Excluded Waste , Compostable Plastic <br />Additional Service: Single-Family Customers shall receive one (1) Organic Materials Cart. Upon <br />request by a Single-Family Customer, Contractor shall provide one (1) or more <br />additional Organic Materials Containers at no additional charge. <br />Other Requirements: Contractor shall provide to all new Single-Family Customers kitchen pails <br />designed to contain Food Scraps prior to placement in the Customer’s Organic <br />Materials Cart. Kitchen pail specifications shall be approved by the City prior to <br />ordering and distribution. Organic Materials placed for Collection may not <br />exceed six (6) inches in diameter and three (3) feet in length and must fit in the <br />provided Cart with the lid closed. <br />Contractor may refuse to Collect an Organic Materials Container that contains <br />more than one percent (1%) by volume of Prohibited Container Contaminants, <br />provided that Contractor leaves a Non-Collection Notice in accordance with <br />Section 5.3.B of this Agreement. Contractor shall inform the Customer of their <br />options to either remove the Prohibited Container Contaminants or pay the City- <br />approved Rate to have the contents of the contaminated Organic Materials <br />Container Collected as Solid Waste.
