Baseline hydrology and hydraulics analysis specific to the
flood control channel will be conducted by BKF as part of Task 4.2. Arup will focus on strategy
development, while BKF will design and implement concepts. Arup will:
● Prepare projections for future climate change impacts on extreme precipitation and
potential flooding on this site.
● Attend an internal charrette/Team Meeting with BKF and UFS to provide feedback and
strategies to incorporate into Task 4.2
● Analyze the potential for risk and impact reduction through resilient design strategies
developed by John Bela and BKF, including green infrastructure and nature-based
opportunities.
Deliverables:
• Projections for future climate change impacts on flooding
• Attendance at one Team Meeting / internal charrette
• Review 4.3 deliverables

Exclusions:
• It is understood that BKF will be developing the strategies and resilience measures, and
Arup will only provide advice based on a high-level or proxy qualitative or semi-
quantitative analysis of potential risk reduction effectiveness of the measures based on
expert judgement and literature review of similar measures and their performance. If
Arup is required to provide quantitative risk reduction, our team can run a risk model for
an additional fee.
4.3. Flood Resilience, Stormwater Design, and Grading
Framework
Sub-Area 1 exists within the 100-year flood plain and as such is subject to increased risk of
flooding due to climate change. John Bela (UFS) and BKF will collaborate on a flood resilience
framework and develop stormwater and flood design strategies to reduce the risk of flooding.
The strategies will consider BART’s stormwater permit requirements, City requirements and
Stormwater Master Plan, etc. and the impact of grading to BART station and other infrastructure
(i.e. flooding risk for BART station concourse). The strategy would develop potential
Docusign Envelope ID: 885601F4-01B5-4FAB-A341-08EBC29876AA
