Consulting Services Agreement between City of San Leandro and
Haley & Aldrich, Inc. for Design Services for Lake Chabot Road Erosion Repairs
Last revised 12/2024
Exhibit A - Page 3A of 5
Task 2 Deliverables:
›Geotechnical Design Report
TASK 3 – ALTERNATIVES ANALYSIS
Task 3.1 -- Topographic Mapping
Topographic mapping is essential for developing an accurate basemap showing current contours and 3D models.
Haley & Aldrich retains the 2022 basemap for pre- and post-slide analysis. Mapping data will be collected using a
LiDAR-equipped drone, and site familiarity may save time by reusing the previous flight path. LCC Engineering &
Surveying will incorporate existing data, while the basemap will provide high- resolution 3D models and necessary
information for retaining wall configurations.
Task 3.2 - Conceptual Designs (3)
Developing alternative design concepts will help Haley & Aldrich and the City identify suitable, cost-effective,
sustainable approaches. We anticipate the designs to consist of the solutions listed below. The concepts will be
incorporated into general plan sheets with enough information for preliminary quantity take-offs and construction cost
estimates.
> Soldier pile and lagging retaining wall
> Shotcrete retaining wall with ground anchors
> Pile-supported geogrid-reinforced segmental block retaining wall
Task 3.3 - Conceptual Cost Estimates (3)
Cost is a key factor in selecting alternatives, especially for government-funded projects. Engineer's estimates of
probable construction costs will be prepared based on the general plan sheets to inform analyses of various
alternatives.
Task 3.4 - Draft Alternatives Memorandum
Presenting the conceptual designs and cost estimates in one document will facilitate the City's selection process. The
Draft Alternatives Memorandum aims to evaluate the conceptual alternatives so the City can make informed
decisions for the next design phase, ranked by cost, risk, maintenance, constructability, and aesthetics.
Task 3.5 - Final Alternatives Memorandum
The City's feedback on the draft memorandum is vital for delivering a product that meets expectations. The draft will
be finalized based on the City's comments and the selected alternative.
Task 3 Deliverables:
›Drafts Alternatives Memorandum
›Final Alternatives Memorandum
TASK 4 – PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, AND ESTIMATE
Task 4.1- Calculations
Calculations help quantify the dimensions and materials necessary to continue the design process. Engineering
calculations will be completed prior to the 60% Plans, Specifications, and Estimate submittal package to support the
refinement of the selected conceptual alternative. After the 100% PS&E submittal, final design calculations will be
prepared and submitted as a separately bound deliverable. All calculations will be based on the design
recommendations and parameters presented in the geotechnical report.
Docusign Envelope ID: 5A210297-2C6D-4132-9363-47ABA0868216
