<br /> <br />23 <br />Local 21/SLCEA Memorandum of Understanding January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2029 <br />Section 23. Resignation <br /> <br />An employee wishing to leave the competitive service in good standing shall file with their <br />supervisor at least two (2) weeks before leaving the service a written resignation stating <br />the effective date of resignation and reasons for leaving. <br /> <br />The resignation shall be forwarded to Human Resources with a statement by the <br />department head as to the resigned employee's service performance and other pertinent <br />information concerning the cause for resignation. <br /> <br />Failure of an employee to comply with this rule shall be entered on the service record of <br />the employee and may be cause for denying future employment by the City. The <br />resignation of an employee who fails to give notice shall be reported to Human Resources <br />immediately. <br /> <br />Section 24. Safety <br /> <br />The City shall conform to the applicable safety regulations found in State law to ensure <br />employees' reasonably safe working conditions. The Union agrees to encourage its <br />represented employees to promptly report unsafe conditions and/or equipment. <br /> <br />Employees assigned to classifications designated by the City to require safety shoes shall <br />be reimbursed upon purchase of such shoes to a fiscal year maximum amount of three <br />hundred and twenty-five dollars ($325.00), and three hundred and seventy-five dollars <br />($375.00) for Tree Trimmers, which would also include inserts, soles, and laces for both. <br />Part-time employees assigned to classifications that require safety shoes shall receive <br />1/2 of the annual reimbursable amount of the full-time employees. <br /> <br />City employees in the following regular or temporary classifications shall receive a <br />biennial reimbursement: <br /> <br /> Assistant Engineer Permits Center Supervisor <br /> Associate Engineer <br /> Engineering Technician <br /> <br />Section 25. Part-Time Paid Leave <br /> <br />Upon hire, all part-time employees shall commence accruing sick leave in accordance <br />with Assembly Bill 1522, enacting the Health Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014 <br />“Paid Sick Leave Law”. Employees will accrue at the rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours <br />worked up to a maximum of 24 hours or 3 days annually or until such time as employee <br />becomes eligible for paid-time off (PTO). Sick leave accrual will cease once an employee <br />becomes eligible to accrue paid time off. <br /> <br />Regular part-time employees shall, upon the completion of six (6) consecutive months of <br />employment, commence to accrue paid leave, to be used for sick leave, holidays or
