<br /> <br />37 <br />Local 21/SLCEA Memorandum of Understanding January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2029 <br /> <br />Section 42. Bilingual Pay <br /> <br />Employees certified by the City as bilingual will receive two hundred ($200) dollars per <br />month bilingual pay when they are required to use a second language in the performance <br />of their job as determined by the department head and confirmed by an appropriate <br />certification process established by the City. Bilingual pay shall apply to Spanish, Chinese <br />(Mandarin and Cantonese), American Sign Language and any other languages as <br />determined by Human Resources. <br /> <br />Section 43. Categories of Appointment <br /> <br />The Personnel Rules regarding categories of appointment shall be amended as follows: <br /> <br /> Probationary Appointment - The appointment of a person to a position in a <br />classification listed in Appendix B from an employment list to serve the required <br />probationary period for that classification. <br /> <br /> Provisional Appointment - The appointment of a person to a position in a <br />classification listed in Appendix B as defined in the Personnel Rules. <br /> <br /> Permanent Appointment - The appointment of a person to a position in a <br />classification listed in Appendix B who has completed the required probationary <br />period in that classification. <br /> <br />Temporary Appointment - The appointment of a person to a position in a <br />classification listed in Appendix B for a specified duration not to exceed twenty-four <br />(24) months. The City shall provide notice to the Union of all temporary <br />appointments. <br /> <br />Section 44. Provisions Applicable to Part-time and Temporary Employees <br /> <br />The following sections of the MOU apply as specified to part-time, permanent part-time <br />and temporary employees as they are defined below: <br /> <br />Part-Time: Hourly employees who work 999 hours or less in a fiscal year. Part-time <br />employees shall remain in probationary status. <br /> <br />Permanent Part-Time: Hourly employees working a fixed-weekly schedule for a minimum <br />of 1,000 hours per year for two consecutive fiscal years. <br /> <br />Temporary Full-Time: Employees hired on a project basis up to a maximum of two years <br />unless extended by mutual agreement. <br /> <br />
