American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates for 2011-2015. <br />Income Levels <br /> <br />One way to understand the economic composition of the community is to examine data on personal <br />income tax returns from the IRS. The income reported on personal income tax returns can be a <br />reasonable proxy for household income. The graph below shows that while the number of tax <br />returns in the highest income brackets ($100,000-$200,000 and $200,000 and above) is rising, the <br />lowest earners (those with under $25,000 and $25,000-$50,000 in income) make up the <br />largest proportion of San Leandro residents. <br />
