58 <br /> <br />HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION OF BOARD AND DUTIES <br />The Commission shall advise the Council on all matters relating to social conditions within the <br />City, assess and report to the Council the social needs of the people, recommend to the Council <br />methods for meeting such needs, and assist the Council in marshalling the human resources <br />necessary to accomplish the foregoing. In discharge of this responsibility, the Commission shall: <br /> <br />a) Evaluate social services being provided within the City, and provide advice and <br />assistance toward coordination thereof; <br /> <br />b) Provide motivation for the development of new social services as the need therefor <br />is determined; <br /> <br />c) Coordinate the efforts of social service agencies to raise funds from the <br />community; <br /> <br />d) Assist in the procurement of grants from public and private funding sources; <br /> <br />e) Study proposed programs and proposed budgets of social service agencies <br />requesting City assistance and recommend Council approval or disapproval of <br />such programs, budgets and requests. The Commission shall conduct periodic <br />reviews of such programs and budgets and shall report to the Council on the <br />implementation of such programs and expenditures of City funds and physical <br />resources therefor. <br /> <br />MEMBERSHIP <br />The commission shall consist of nine (9) members. The Commission is comprised of 1 member <br />representing each district and 3 at-large members. <br />Four (4) Year Term <br /> <br />MEETING SCHEDULE <br />Meets fourth Wednesday of every month; 7:00 p.m., City Hall, Sister Cities Gallery <br />
