Greg Nauman gave a PowerPoint presentation
regarding the Roof Replacement and Repair Program.

Discussion ensued. Mayor Santos expressed concern for the need for roof repair on some
buildings at this point. He believes 12 years is not enough for the lifespan of the roofs.
Councilmember Souza asked what the lifespan of an average roof is and asked if it would
be feasible to put another layer over a roof rather than replace it. Greg Nauman stated
that generally a roof will last for 15-20 and that the costs for replacement and repairs are
designated in the estimate.

John Jermanis explained that staff is trying to alert the Committee to upcoming costs to
the buildings. Mike Bakaldin explained the project in further detail explaining, for
example, that replacement of roofs for restrooms where more extensive repairs to the
building are needed will be evaluated as possible CIP projects for the replacement ofthe
entire restroom, not just a roof.

2. Update on Senior Center Project
Ken Joseph gave a PowerPoint presentation regarding the Senior Center project.
Councilmember Gregory asked if staff had looked into the costs of environmentally
friendly materials and the investment versus the return. Uche Udemezue explained that
having the building platinum certified would require several million dollars.
