It provides for construction of streetscape improvements including <br />landscaping, irrigation, decorative streetlights in the existing median, and entryway monument <br />on Doolittle Drive between Adams Avenue and 98th Avenue. <br /> <br />Phase 2 is a sole effort by the City of San Leandro with a contribution from the Port of Oakland, <br />and provides for construction of streetscape, landscaping, and irrigation similar to Phase 1 on <br />Doolittle Drive between Adams Avenue and Davis Street. <br /> <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends approval of a contractual services agreement for construction support services <br />with John Cahalan Landscape in the amount of$53,190 for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Doolittle <br />Drive Entryway Improvement project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />In 2001, an entryway plan between the City of Oakland and the City of San Leandro was <br />developed to improve the common entryway on Doolittle Drive between Davis Street and <br />Airport Drive. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was executed between the cities of <br />Oakland and San Leandro and the Port of Oakland to fund portions of the project within their <br />respective jurisdictions. John Cahalan Landscape was selected as the lead consultant for the <br />preparation of plans and specifications for this project. Both phases were successful in bid and <br />award. <br /> <br />The project includes construction of landscaping, irrigation, improvements to existing medians, <br />and entryway monument along Doolittle Drive. Other work items on this corridor include <br />installation of new streetlights in the medians, relocation of existing traffic signals in the <br />medians, and painting of existing streetlights. <br />
