Discussion of Communications Protocols between the City of San Leandro and SL USD Key points made during discussion regarding communication protocols between the City of San Leandro and SLUSD include: . On pressing issues, contact each other directly instead of communicating via letters to the editor. . It is important to remember that once elected, you are no longer anonymous. o (Even if you write a letter as a citizen, the paper may use your official title; and even ifnot, your constituents will view you in the elected role.) . On the premise that discussion/contlict makes good policy, if you do elect to write a letter to the editor, use non-agency letterhead and begin the letter with "1 am writing this letter as a resident. .." o Share a draft with colleagues before sending out. . Address communications protocols through new member orientations. Committee Recommendation A discussion of the matter of communications protocols should be placed on the agenda for the next joint meeting of the City Council and School Board.
