AC Transit's EIS and EIR on the proposed Bus Rapid Transit in Berkeley,
Oakland and San Leandro, which requires dedicated lanes, are out for comment.

Interim Community Development Director Sims shared that Community Development and
Engineering and Transportation staff are currently reviewing the EIR. Staff comments are
technical and address the environmental impact of the proposed dedicated lanes. The
comments do not address policy concerns. This item will be taken to the Facilities
Committee on June 27,2007 for discussion, and then be brought to the Council on July 2,
2007 as an action item.

Councilmember Grant stated that she didn't recall Council taking a policy stance on the
issue. Council was however, concerned about the reduction oflanes and the elimination of
parking on E. 14th Street.
