<br />CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />APPROVED AND <br />FORWARDED <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />September 4, 2007 <br /> <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />John Jermanis, City Manager <br /> <br />FROM: Uchenna Udemezue, Director <br />Engineering and Transportation Department <br /> <br />BY: Kenneth Joseph, City Engineer 11/ <br />SUBJECT PROJECT /PROJECT DESCRIPT{.tlN: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE WORK FOR THE HISTORY WALK SIGNAGE <br />PROJECT, PROJECT NO. 04-961-83-061 <br /> <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, and upon <br />completion to the satisfaction of the City Engineer of the one-year maintenance period, hereby <br />authorizes the City Manager to release the Maintenance Bond for the subject property. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />Analysis <br /> <br />The History Walk Signage project included the installation of 13 informational signs throughout <br />the downtown area regarding the general history of San Leandro as well as specific places of <br />historical interest. Additionally, this project provides three history pylons along West Estudillo <br />A venue as part of the Pedestrian Connection project, and ornamental metal filigrees for the East <br />14th Street bus shelter at Washington Plaza. <br /> <br />Current City Council Policy <br /> <br />. Identifies the History Walk Signage project and similar downtown pedestrian enhancements <br />as being of the highest priority in implementing the objectives of the RDA in reducing blight <br />in the Plaza Redevelopment Project Area <br />. Construction of the History Walk Signage project is a specific public improvement program <br />included in the 2004-2009 Implementation Plan for the Plaza Redevelopment Project Area <br />. Complements other proposed RDA-funded projects to install new signage <br /> <br />Previous City Council Action(s) <br />. On October 21, 2002 by Resolution No. 2002-017RDA, the RDA authorized the issuance of <br />tax allocation bonds to partially fund certain redevelopment activities in the Plaza <br />Redevelopment Project Area such as landscaping, street and pedestrian lighting, parking, and <br />walkways <br />
