CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />BY: <br />July 21, 2008 <br />John Jermanis, City Manager x~`~ <br />Uchenna Udemezue Director <br />APPROVED AND <br />FORWARDED <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br />Jo .~Jermanis <br />Ci anager <br />Engineering and Transportation D artment <br />Kenneth Joseph, City Engineer <br />Engineering and Transportation Department <br />SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING A CONTRACTUAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH <br />SKYLINE ENGINEERING, INC., RELATED TO THE ROOF REPAIR AND <br />REPLACEMENT PROJECT, PHASE III, PROJECT NO. 687-18-104. <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends approval of a contractual services agreement with Skyline Engineering, Inc. in <br />the amount of $45,950.00 to provide professional design services and construction support for <br />the subject project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />In 2006, a roof survey was conducted by Skyline Engineering to evaluate the condition of all <br />roofs on City-owned buildings. The survey included an assessment of roof condition and a <br />budgetary estimate for repair/replacement. Several roofs were found in poor condition, and <br />repairs and/or replacement were recommended. Phase I of this project is near completion and <br />included the Marina Community Center and the Public Safety Building. Phase II of this project <br />is currently in design and involves roofs at the Main Library's Karp Room, Fire Station #12, <br />Public Works Shipping/Receiving area and the South Offices Mechanical area. <br />This contract is for Phase III, which will repair and/or replace the following roofs: City Hall; the <br />Building/Electrical, Streets/Landscaping, and Fuel/Records shed at the Public Works Service <br />Center; the Cherry Grove Park Maintenance building; one score booth at San Leandro Ball Park <br />and two at Pacific Ball Park; and the Park Median Crew shed near the Marina. <br />Designs for Phases II and III will be combined into a single construction project scheduled for <br />Spring of 2009. <br />Analysis <br />Based on Skyline Engineering's extensive experience with re-roofing projects for various <br />government agencies within Alameda County coupled with its satisfactory performance in the <br />
