Update on the Transit Oriented Development Plan for Bayfair Center <br />City Manager Jermanis provided the Committee with an overview of the joint planning effort <br />between the City of San Leandro, the County of Alameda, Madison Marquette Development, <br />and BART to cooperatively consider development at and around the Bay Fair BART Station. <br />Community Development Director Sirns explained that in 2006, BART, the City, the County, <br />AC Transit and Madison Marquette worked on a Caltrans-sponsored grant to create the Bay <br />Fair BART Station Transit-Oriented Development ("TOD") and Access Plan. The plan was <br />completed in March 2007. <br />In 2008, BART received a grant from the Metropolitan Transportation Committee (MTC) to <br />create a plan that will focus on improving personal safety and security at and around the Bay <br />Fair BART Station. The plan is expected to be completed by the end of 2008/beginning of <br />2009. <br />Director Sims explained that in order to build on these plans, a Memorandum of <br />Understanding (MOU) between City of San Leandro, Alameda County, Madison Marquette <br />Development, and BART stating their intention to continue to work together on TOD <br />
