Presentation of San Leandro LINKS 2008 Shuttle Rider Survey <br />Interim City Manager Hollister introduced the agenda item and explained that the San <br />Leandro TMO completes a rider survey every year on the LINKS in order to better <br />understand the ridership of the shuttle. Hollister then introduced Gordon Galvan, the <br />Executive Director of the San Leandro TMO. Mr. Galvan informed the Committee that the <br />annual rider survey measures satisfaction and use of the free shuttle and provides valuable <br />information to the TMO Executive Board and the shuttle's various funding sources. Galvan <br />explained that for the last three years the TMO has contracted out the survey to Valerie <br />Brock Consulting in order to insure accuracy and third party objectiveness. <br />Ms. Brock explained to the Committee that the rider survey was administered to shuttle <br />riders on May 7th and 8th during the morning and afternoon hours of shuttle operation. Both <br />Spanish and English versions of the survey were available. A total of 149 responses were <br />collected. In addition to the questions asked in the rider survey, the TMO Executive Board <br />wished to better understand how many shuttle riders work for employers who pay into the <br />Business Improvement District (BID). In order to acquire this information, a large poster <br />was created on which the names of all 800 employers in the BID were listed. Two hundred <br />
