CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />CITY COUNCIL SHORELINE - MARINA CON11l~IITTEE <br />October 28, 2008 <br />9:00 a.m. -10:30 a.m. <br />San Leandro City Hall <br />835 East 14th Street <br />San Leandro, California <br />Sister Cities Gallery Room <br />HIGHLIGHTS <br />Committee Members: Mayor Santos, Councilmember Prola, Councilmember Starosciak <br />City staff present: Interim City Manager Hollister, Community Development Director Sims, <br />Engineering Director Udemezue, Public Works Director Bakaldin, <br />Business Development Manager Battenberg, Facilities and Open Space <br />Manager Pollart, Marina Supervisor Snodgrass, Planner Penaranda. <br />Public present: Ann Buell, (State Coastal Conservancy), Al Fernandez, Darlene Hays, <br />Karen Holzmeister (Bay Area Newsgroup), Matt Maloon, Bob Leigh, <br />Linda Perry, Penny Wells (Bay Access) <br />The meeting was called to order at 9:00 A.M. <br />1. Discussion regarding Selection Committee Recommendation for Composition of the <br />Shoreline Development Citizens Advisory Committee (Shoreline CAC) <br />Manager Battenberg explained that there was significant outreach to attract Shoreline CAC <br />members. The composition of the CAC is intended to have city-wide representation, new and <br />long term residents, men and women, families, individuals who have participated in City <br />committees before, new persons who want to get involved, and stakeholders from various <br />interest groups. <br />Mayor Santos and Councilmember Starosciak stated that they, the Selection Committee, <br />reviewed the 66 applications received. They worked cautiously and diligently to narrow their <br />recommendation to 30 persons. Councilmember Starosciak added that the Selection <br />Committee recommends representation from the Youth Advisory Commissioners (YAC). <br />Manager Battenberg stated that no YAC members have expressed interest or submitted an <br />application to date. However, staff will continue to work with the YAC to identify a youth <br />who can provide input on shoreline development. <br />Mayor Santos stated that he received a call questioning Michael Cook's representation of the <br />Spinnaker Yacht Club. <br />Councilmember Prola was pleased to see a good number of persons representing District 6. He <br />asked why there were so few members from Districts 2 and 3. Councilmember Starosciak <br />replied that the two applicants from District 2 who applied and were selected and that half of <br />the applicants (three of the six) from District 3 were selected, consistent with the overall <br />
