It provides for construction of streetscape improvements on Doolittle Drive <br />between Adams Avenue and 98t~ Avenue. <br />Phase 2 is a sole effort by the City of San Leandro, and provides for construction of streetscape <br />improvements similar to Phase 1 on Doolittle Drive between Adams Avenue and Davis Street. <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends acceptance of the work for Phase 1 and 2, filing of the Notices of Completion, <br />and upon completion to the satisfaction of the City Engineer of the one-year maintenance period, <br />hereby authorizes the City Manager to release the Maintenance Bonds for the subject project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />In 2001, an entryway plan between Oakland and San Leandro was developed to improve the <br />common entryway on Doolittle Drive between Davis Street and Airport Drive. A Memorandum <br />of Understanding (MOU) was executed between the cities of Oakland and San Leandro and the <br />Port of Oakland to fund portions of the project within their respective jurisdictions. <br />The project includes landscaping, irrigation, improvements to existing medians and entryway <br />monuments along Doolittle Drive, a state highway. Other work items on this corridor include <br />the installation of new streetlights, relocation of traffic signals in the medians and painting of <br />existing streetlights. <br />The project was divided into two phases. Phase 1 (98th Avenue to Adams Avenue) is a joint <br />venture between the City Oakland, the Port of Oakland, and the City of San Leandro. Phase 2 <br />
