CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m. by Mayor Santos. <br />A. Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag <br />Councilmember Gregory led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />B. Roll Call <br />PRESENT: Members Gregory, Prola, Reed, Souza, Starosciak, Stephens; <br />Mayor Santos <br />ABSENT: None <br />Mayor Santos turned the gavel over to Vice Mayor Stephens to chair the meeting. <br />2. BUSINESS ITEMS <br />A. 2009 State of the City Address Presented by Mayor Santos <br />Mayor Santos presented the 2009 State of the City Address for the City of San Leandro, <br />entitled, "Getting Leaner and Greener." In his presentation, Mayor Santos described the <br />ways San Leandro is becoming "leaner," through substantial cuts to City programs and <br />services to offset shrinking revenues; and by encouraging residents to lead healthier and <br />more active lives, in an effort to combat the obesity epidemic. Mayor Santos also <br />presented the actions the City is taking to become "greener," to address the impacts of <br />climate change. The presentation also gave an overview of the City's current issues and <br />upcoming projects, and highlighted the major City events of the past year. <br />
