Discussion Regarding Development of the Industrial Competitiveness Grant Program <br />and an Energy Efficiency Resource Fair Planned for October 8. <br />Business Development Analyst Kay provided the Committee with an overview of the <br />Industrial Competitiveness Grant Program (see attached memo). Kay explained that the <br />Program encourages and facilitates energy efficiency improvements at industrial facilities, <br />creating cost savings for these businesses and helping to meet the City's environmental goals. <br />Program funding of $150,000 is included in the adopted FY 2009-10 budget for the West San <br />Leandro/MacArthur Blvd (WSL/Mac) Redevelopment Project Area. <br />In order to provide information about the Program and other resources available to the <br />industrial businesses, the Office of Business Development is planning to hold an Energy <br />Efficiency Resource Fair on October 8, 2009 at the San Leandro Library. This event will <br />include a short program and an opportunity for businesses to network with vendors and <br />consultants. <br />Kay then briefed the Committee on Ghirardelli's investment in energy efficiency projects in <br />recent years, and advised the Committee a small 53,608 grant is recommend to support <br />Ghirardelli's planned Phase 2 lighting retrofit, using funds from the Joint Project Area's <br />Commercial Rehabilitation Program (as Ghirardelli is not in the WSL/Mac Project Area). <br />
