CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: December 21, 2009 <br />TO: Stephen Hollister, Ci Manager <br />FROM: Carolyn Knudtsori; erector <br />Recreation and Human Services Department <br />SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br />APPROVED AND <br />FORWARDED <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br />Stephen Hollister <br />City Manager <br />RECOMMENDATION FROM THE RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION TO THE <br />CITY COUNCIL REGARDING THE USE OF MEASURE WW AND PARK <br />DEVELOPMENT FEE FUNDS <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />As per the information received from the public input process requested by the City Council, the <br />Recreation and Parks Commission recommends that the Measure WW and Park Development <br />Fee (PDF) funds be used towards the following projects: <br />Toyon Park Play Equipment; Marina Park Irrigation Improvements; Par Course Improvements; <br />Marina Dog Park; San Leandro Ball Park Locker/Restroom Refurbishment; Stenzel Park <br />Drainage; Marina Park Group Picnic Areas; Pacific l and 2 Bleachers; Resurface Skate Park <br />with Concrete and all Parks Rehab of Asphalt Walkways. <br />BACKGROUND <br />At the September 14, 2009 City Council Work Session, the City Council directed the Recreation <br />and Parks Commission to conduct a public input process and make a recommendation for the use <br />of Measure WW and Park Development Fee funds. <br />At the October 6, 2009 Recreation and Parks Commission meeting, the Commission determined <br />a public input process and requested staff to provide a staff report to City Council to get their <br />support of the process. <br />At the October 19, 2009 City Council meeting staff explained the public input process proposed <br />by the Recreation and Parks Commission. Councilmember Prola requested that one of the <br />meetings be held at the Main Library and one of the meetings be held at the Marina Community <br />Center. Councilmember Souza expressed a concern regarding the short timeline and the Council <br />was assured that if the Commission did not feel valuable information came out of the meetings <br />
