E., City En 'neer Engineering and Transportatio Departmen SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE WORK FOR 1550 EAST 14TH STREET AND 262 DAVIS STREET TEMPORARY PARKING LOTS PROJECT, PROJECT NO.09-962-86-070 AND 09- 961-83-077. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, and upon completion to the satisfaction of the City Engineer of the one-year maintenance period, hereby authorizes the City Manager to release the Maintenance Bond for the subject project. BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS The City, in cooperation with the Redevelopment Agency (RDA), has prepared plans for demolition of the existing Estudillo/Callan Garage and construction of a new parking structure in its place. It is anticipated that the project will break ground in Spring 2010. The existing garage and adjacent surface lot contain approximately 234 parking spaces that will be unavailable for use by the public for the duration of the project. The City and the RDA identified two locations for temporary parking lots: 262 and 290 Davis Street and 1550 East 14~' Street. The RDA owns the property at 1550 East 14`h Street (formerly Albertsons) and at 290 Davis (formerly Temptations Bar) and leases (with an option to buy) the property at 262 Davis Street from the Chamber of Commerce. The Davis Street properties contain 15,550 square feet that will be used for approximately 40 leased parking spaces. The East 14~' Street property contains 75,359 square feet that will be used for approximately 198 parking spaces. City staff prepared plans for construction of the two parking lots for use by downtown businesses and the public while the Estudillo/Callan Parking Garage is under construction. The project
