CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />BY: <br />March 15, 2010 <br />Stephen Hollister, City Manager <br />Lianne Marshall, Assistant City Manager~.- <br />APPROVED AND <br />FORWARDED <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br />e- :~~~ <br />Stephen Hollister <br />City Manager <br />Kathy Ornelas, Community Relations Representative'~/~ <br />SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br />RESOLUTION TERMINATING A LOCAL EMERGENCY WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN <br />LEANDRO DUE TO THE THREAT TO THE PUBLIC HEALTH FROM THE H1N1 VIRUS <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />On November 11, 2009, the City Council adopted Resolution 2009-153, which declared a local <br />emergency in San Leandro due to the public health risk from the H1N1 Influenza epidemic, <br />which was widespread throughout Alameda County and California at that time. The status of the <br />declaration has been reviewed by the City Council at each subsequent City Council meeting as <br />required by the City's Municipal Code and State law. <br />Information has been received that the California Department of Health has determined that the <br />cases of H1N1 Influenza Virus have declined to a sporadic level in the state. Additionally, the <br />County of Alameda has suspended its local emergency proclamation. <br />Therefore, staff recommends that the City Council, in accordance with San Leandro Municipal <br />Code Section 3-4-124, by Resolution, terminate the Declaration of a Local Emergency in San <br />Leandro related to the H1N1 Influenza Virus for the 2009-2010 flu season. <br />CONCLUSION <br />Staff recommends that City Council, by Resolution, terminate the existing Declaration of a Local <br />Emergency related to the H1N1 Influenza Virus. <br />
