In July 2007, the City replied with its Locally Preferred
Alternative (LPA) and DEIS/R comments. AC Transit revised the original plans prepared for the
DEIS/EIR and worked with the City to elicit public comment through an organized public
outreach program.
Staff recommends that the City Council indicate the City's BRT LPA is a system terminating at
the San Leandro Downtown BART Station and establishing dedicated lanes from the north City
Limit to approximately Georgia Way. Staff additionally recommends that the City request AC
Transit study the option of extending the BRT to the BayFair BART Station with dedicated bus
lanes from the north City Limit to Georgia Way and from Blossom Way to Bancroft Avenue.
The Planning Commission reviewed this item at its March 25, 2010 meeting. The Planning
Commission recommended that the LPA indicate support of Alternative 2 and Alternative 4 (as
described in June 2007), terminating the BRT system at the San Leandro Downtown BART
Station and excluding dedicated lanes within the city.
